City Hall Closed Wednesday, April 24, for Move

City Hall will be closed on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, so staff can move from the current, leased offices to the new, permanent building.

The final day of operations at 3 Quail Creek Center will be Tuesday, April 23.

City Hall will reopen at 360 N. Main St. at 7 a.m. on Thursday, April 25.

A ribbon cutting and open house is planned for Tuesday, May 14, from 4:30 to 6 p.m.

Regular Session

At 4:30 p.m., Chairperson Lee called the Regular Session of the North Liberty Board of Appeals to order.

Members present: Lee, Hajek, Kazmierczak and Colony.

Others present: Bryan Hardin, Assistance Fire Chief, Steve Kennedy, Mike Roberts, Glen Siders, Mic Harris, Mike Bails, Dave Moore and Tom Palmer, Building Official.

Chairperson opened the hearing to review Part 3 of the Significant Changes to the 2009 International Residential Code. Kazmierczak moved, Hajek seconded to recommend amending Section R313.2 of the 2009 IRC by deleting the entire sentence and inserting the following sentence, Effective January 1, 2013 an automatic residential fire sprinkler system shall be installed in one-and two-family dwellings and three to four unit townhouses. Motion passed unanimously. Colony moved, Kazmierczak seconded to recommend amending Section R302 to require fire walls separating townhouses in accordance Section 317 of the 2006 International residential Code. Motion passed unanimously.

Kazmierczak moved, Colony seconded to recommend amending Section R317.1(5) to require approved frost heave protection below patio slabs, landings and similar horizontal concrete surfaces exposed to the weather when such surface is less than 6 inches below the siding. Motion passed unanimously.
Colony moved, Hajek seconded the group has completed reviewing Part 3 of Significant Changes to the 2009 International Residential Code through Section R602.10.4.1. Motion passed unanimously.
The Board will try to schedule a meeting March 10th, 2010 at 5:00 pm to continue reviewing Part 3 of the Significant Changes to the 2009 International Residential Code.

Hajek moved, Colony seconded to approve the minutes of February 10th, 2010 meeting. Motion passed unanimously.

Meeting adjourned at 6:30 p.m.
