North Liberty Library receives Vision Iowa grant

April 14 — The Vision Iowa Board awarded $1.05 million in grants to library projects in North Liberty, Atkins and Clarksville. The grants were approved Wednesday by the Vision Iowa Board at its meeting in Urbandale.
“Libraries are the heart of so many smaller communities and they are an important quality of life feature providing services for residents of all ages,” Vision Iowa Board Chairwoman Regenia Bailey, who is also an Iowa City councilor, stated in a press release.
The following projects were approved for grants awarded from the Community Attraction and Tourism (CAT) Fund: $277,000 to help construct a library, community room and city hall in Atkins and $160,240 to help Clarksville double the size of its public library.
North Liberty received $622,484 that will be used to fund its $3.3 million public library expansion. The award is contingent upon the organization completing its fundraising in 60 days. The project includes the construction of an 11,400-square-foot addition to the library, which will provide space for five meeting rooms, three youth programming areas, twice the current seating and 20 additional computer stations.
