Weekend Detour

Hi folks!  I hope you are staying cool out there…it’s going to be a hot one this coming weekend and week.  An excessive heat advisory is posted as the heat index will approach 115 degrees.  Be careful out there!
Tomorrow, eastbound traffic on Penn Street, from Community Drive to Highway 965, will be detoured onto Community Drive and Highway 965.  Westbound traffic will not be affected.  The detour is necessary to finish the lane widening on Penn Street.  If all goes well, both lanes of traffic on Penn will be fully functional by 11AM on Saturday morning.
Due to the Golfview Drive Extension Project, the North Liberty trail, from Forevergreen Road to Zeller Street is now closed and will not reopen for two weeks.   Pedestrians and bicyclists are encouraged to use the sidewalk along Front Street as the detour.
The sidewalk in front of Penn Elementary has been removed in order to prep for the installation of the Dubuque Street Trail.  The trail section in front of the school will be completed and in ready condition by the start of the school year.  Until then, please use the sidewalk on the south side of the street.
