Golfview Drive Opened Today

There was frost on the windshields today, folks, which means the warm weather is coming to an end.  The good news: so are many of our construction projects.
The Golfview Drive Extension project opened today. This is exciting as we now have an east-to-west connector street, allowing traffic to travel from Front Street all the way to Kansas Avenue.  If you get a chance, be sure to check out the new bridge on this section of road.

The Dubuque Street Trail project is substantially complete, and I have seen many people enjoying this new feature.  Within the next week or two, there will be a few areas of concrete along the trailway that will be replaced.  Most of the trail will still be open, but please, be cautious as you come upon areas under repair.  The trail was dedicated last Friday with a joint ribbon cutting by the city and county.  Eventually, the trail will be named the Iowa River Corridor Trail and will be part of a trail system that reaches all the way to Waterloo.
Jones Boulevard is now open from Forevergreen Road to Zeller Street.  The portion of work remaining is between Zeller Street and Penn Street and is still scheduled to be completed this year.  Of course, as usual, this is weather dependent.  Jones Boulevard, from Zeller Street to Penn Street, is expected to be closed through November.

The Penn Street project is complete and seems to be operating as planned.  This is a great improvement to our community and should help the commercial businesses and development within the general area.
Thanks for keeping up with my blog.  Enjoy your week and stay warm!
