City Hall Closed Wednesday, April 24, for Move

City Hall will be closed on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, so staff can move from the current, leased offices to the new, permanent building.

The final day of operations at 3 Quail Creek Center will be Tuesday, April 23.

City Hall will reopen at 360 N. Main St. at 7 a.m. on Thursday, April 25.

A ribbon cutting and open house is planned for Tuesday, May 14, from 4:30 to 6 p.m.

Updated: Police discover methamphetamine Lab

On March 29, 2014, officers of the North Liberty Police Department and Johnson County Multi-Jurisdictional Drug Task Force executed a State of Iowa Narcotics Search Warrant at 95 Golfview Court, North Liberty.
During the search of the residence and property curtilage, officers located several spent methamphetamine labs, precursors, methamphetamine lab equipment, methamphetamine, paraphernalia and other evidentiary items. The investigation is ongoing and charges are pending the outcome of the investigation. All subjects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in the court of law.
On April 8, 2014, Derek Anthony Schmelzer was arrested for Controlled Substance Violation (Class B Felony) 124.401(1)(b), Receive Transport or Possess Firearm as a Felon (Class D Felony) 724.26-2, and Gathering For Use of Drugs (Class D Felony) 124.407-2. April Suzanne Schmelzer was arrested for Controlled Substance Violation (Class B Felony) 124.401(1)(b) and Gathering For Use of Drugs (Class D Felony) 124.407-2. Both were taken into custody without incident and transported to the Johnson County Jail and booked for those charges.
The North Liberty Police Department was assisted by the following agencies: Johnson County Multi-Jurisdictional Drug Task Force (composed of the Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement, Johnson County Sheriff’s Office, Coralville Police Department, University of Iowa Police Department, Iowa City Police Department, and the North Liberty Police Department), Iowa State Patrol Tactical Team, Iowa State Patrol, Johnson County Attorney’s Office, North Liberty Fire Department, and the Johnson County Ambulance Service.
All subjects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in the court of law.
