We're honored to be honored as a leader in kids' play

playfulcityusa-logo-fullcolorThis week, KaBoom and the Humana Foundation named North Liberty, for the third straight year, a Playful City USA community as a leader in playability by making it easy for kids to get balanced and active play.
“We’re a young and active community,” said Tom Salm, North Liberty’s mayor. “Our parks and recreation staff work tirelessly on our community’s recreation trails, playgrounds, parks and pools so our children and families have access to the means to stay active year round. It’s exciting to see the work recognized nationally.”
North Liberty was one of three cities in Iowa, and 212 nationwide, to be honored with the designation.
In the past year, North Liberty named the new 40-acre Centennial Park, continued its support of Garner Elementary School’s Walking School Bus and a variety of youth athletic programs, installed new play equipment at Quail Ridge Park, expanded and improved its recreation trail system, and hosted a youth triathlon and other youth programs.
