Soil quality demonstration in North Liberty on May 3, 2015

The City of North Liberty is partnering with the Johnson County Soil and Water Conservation District to organize a soil quality restoration demonstration. The soil quality restoration demonstration is scheduled from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, May 3, and will be held at Mike and Kelly Joseph’s home at 1485 Red Oak Drive in North Liberty.
North Liberty is located in one of the fast growing areas in the state. As buildings and houses are built, valuable topsoil is removed and the remaining subsoil is compacted by heavy equipment and construction activity. Compacted soils do not allow storm water to infiltrate, leaving the water untreated as it carries pollutants into nearby streams, rivers, lakes, and wetlands. Soil quality restoration combines deep-tine aeration and spreading nutrient rich compost on your lawn, increasing your yards organic matter content and overall ability to absorb rain water. This practice is a quick, easy, and cost-effective way to improve the overall health of your yard, transforming your dry, stressed lawns to lush and green!  Join us the demonstrations to learn more about the benefits of soil quality restoration and talk with Johnson County Soil and Water Conservation District  staff and Forevergreen landscaping.
This event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be provided and an RSVP is requested. To register for this event, go to www.jcswcd.org or call Breanna Zimmerman at the Johnson County Soil and Water Conservation District office, (319) 337-2322 x3. Individuals needing accommodations or who have questions about the event should contact Breanna Zimmerman at the number above.
