Soil boring on North Liberty Road

Weather permitting, contractors will be conducting soil boring on the gravel portion of North Liberty Road north of Dubuque Street on Thursday, May 20. This work is in preparation for the design of North Liberty Road. These improvements are expected next year, ahead of the opening of Liberty High School. Due to limited visibility, flaggers will be on site for the approximately three hours the borings will take.
Drivers are asked to use caution around the work site, allow extra travel time, and find alternative routes when possible.
The borings will be in three locations, and the data will be used to give engineers an idea of what to expect for the soil conditions and, therefore, if any special considerations are needed when preparing the new road grade for rock and paving.
