Residents encouraged to participate in National Night Out

North Liberty residents are encouraged to participate in National Night Out on Tuesday, August 4. National Night Out is an annual event that focuses on community-building relationships among neighborhood residents and police-community partnerships in effort to make neighborhoods a safer and better place to live. This year’s National Night Out will mark its 32nd year, and currently, over 16,000 communities around the nation participate. The North Liberty Police Department asks residents to lock their doors, turn on their porch and exterior lights, and spend the evening outdoors in effort to strengthen neighborhoods.  National Night Out is a positive effort to promote crime and drug prevention while sending a message to criminals that shows organized neighborhoods are fighting back.
Neighborhoods around the nation host block parties, festivities, cookouts, and other community events with safety demonstrations, seminars, youth events, visits from emergency personnel and exhibits. North Liberty neighborhoods planning to host a National Night Out event are asked to contact Sergeant Chris Shine, to be added to the list, at (319)626-5724 or by emailing [email protected].
