Highway 965’s open. Let’s have a party.

Penn Landing Block PartyTo celebrate the reopening of Highway 965, the city will co-host a block party from 12 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 30, at Penn Landing, near the intersection of Highway 965 and Penn Street.

In addition to the great food, drink and shopping the Penn Landing area regularly offers, the party will include live music, games, balloon animals, inflatables, dogs demonstrating flyball, a caricature artist, prizes, samples, specials and more. Penn Landing’s weekly farmers’ market will also be open from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., with some vendors holding extended hours.

Live music will include singer and songwriter Jeffrey C. Capps, who will perform his roots/rock music from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and Two-Bit Maniac, a three-piece with eclectic influences performing from 2 to 4 p.m.

“We all hate road construction,” said Nick Bergus, the City of North Liberty’s communications director. “This is a small way we can thank residents and businesses for their patience during the work.”

Revelers are invited to come to the party via the rebuilt highway or to walk and bike via the soon-to-open new trail and sidewalk.

The party is co-hosted by Grand Rail Development, Leash on Life, Molly’s Cupcakes, Yotopia Frozen Yogurt with the help of a great compliment of local businesses including AlphaGraphics, Azul Tequila, Capanna Coffee, Debut Dance, EXIT Realty, Kay Family Chiropractic, Moeller Chiropractic, Nail Art, Popcorn Shoppe, PRVN Consultants, Rocky O’Brien’s Public House and UI QuickCare.
