Firefighter Dave Hubler inducted into North Liberty Hall of Fame

IMG_1844Dave Hubler, who has unselfishly served 24 years as a volunteer with the North Liberty Fire Department, including time as its chief, was inducted into the North Liberty Community Hall of Fame Thursday night.
“Being a volunteer firefighter is a large commitment, and Dave has served the city and its residents, often missing family events to go on medical calls, fire calls or accidents involving injury and sometimes death,” his nomination read. “When you see an NLFD truck, it is a good bet that Dave Hubler is there, relentless serving his community.”
The NLFD is one of the busiest volunteer fire departments in the state of Iowa with about 1,000 calls a year. Hubler routinely responds on about 40 percent of the department’s calls, department leadership say.
The award honors those who have demonstrated commitment and sacrifice in service to the North Liberty community.
Previous inductees are Russ Gerdin (2013), a philanthropist and the founder of Heartland Express; Tom Salm (2014), a mayor who took office during a time of turmoil and led North Liberty forward with vision, consensus and selflessness; and Natlie Wilkerson (2013), who gave selflessly of her time, particularly to those in need, and helped found the North Liberty Community Pantry.
