Fall brings Halloween fun to North Liberty, with a variety of public events including:

The Fall Festival at the Colony Pumpkin Patch on Saturday, Oct. 8, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The festival features bounce house, food, hayrack rides, chainsaw carver, interactive games, corn box, barrel train, and more. A portion of admissions to the corn maze and other fun benefit the North Liberty Police’s fundraising campaign for a K9 unit.

The brand-new Halloween Moonlight Walk, a family-friendly stroll around a decorated Liberty Centre Pond under the moonlight, with lantern bags and friendly ghosts, snacks and a movie. Walk begins in the North Liberty Community Center parking lot on Friday, Oct. 14, at 6:30 p.m. Admission is free.

For kids up to 12 years old, the recreation department is offering Pumpkin Painting & Carving on Saturday, Oct. 15 from 8:30 to 10 a.m. in the Community Center. Snag a pumpkin and everything you need to make it a killer Jack-O-Lantern for $8.

The North Liberty Community Library will host Pumpkin Painting with Grannie Annie for kids to paint your favorite book character for display in the library though October at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 15. Free registration, limited and required, starts Oct. 1.

The recreation department’s Haunted Happenings is scheduled on Thursday, Oct. 27, and Friday, Oct. 28, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. both days. The annual event features tunnels, mazes, games and fun. Snacks, drinks and candy will be provided. Admission is $2 per child, 9 and younger, at the door either night. Don’t worry about a camera, photos will be taken free of charge by Sandi Spurrell Photography and posted to her website just days later.

The city hosts its second annual Trunk or Treat on Friday, Oct. 28 at 10 a.m. in the Community Center parking lot.

Trick or Treating takes place citywide on Oct. 31 from 5 to 8 p.m. Don’t be the chump out asking for candy without a costume. Consider participating in the Teal Pumpkin Project by offering non-food treats for kids with allergies or otherwise unable to take food. The North Liberty Fire Department will host its Monster Mash at the station, 25 W. Cherry St. for kids of all ages.
