City employees take over Snapchat for City Week

Snapchat CodeCity Week, an effort started by the Iowa League of Cities to raise public awareness about the services that cities perform and to educate the public on how city government works, is next week, Oct. 10 through 14. Employees from several city departments will celebrate the week by taking over the city’s Snapchat account to provide an inside look at a day in the life of their work.

Add username: northliberty (or Snap a picture of the code to the right) to follow along. Here is what’s in store:

  • Monday, Oct. 10 – take a tour of the city, and shadow an overnight shift with Officer Travis Cobb
  • Tuesday, Oct. 11 – join Officer Chuck Tygart for school patrol and school visits, learn what is new at the library from director Jennie Garner, and get behind-the-scenes at the live taping of a city council meeting.
  • Wednesday, Oct. 12 – spend the morning with human resources and legal assistant Jackie Harris, as she shares the happenings of city hall and the legal department, and watch local business leaders step into the shoes of city council members at a mock city council meeting over the noon hour.
  • Thursday, Oct. 13 – kick-off your day with a look inside the parks department with Brian Hamer, and then follow the daily workings of the streets department through the eyes of utility locator, Justin Murray.
  • Friday, Oct. 14 – end the week with Alisha Ruffcorn, the North Liberty police department’s administrative assistant, get a peak at the kick-off of the city’s annual United Way of Johnson and Washington Counties workplace campaign, and head into the weekend with Matt Maseck, the recreation supervisor, at the Halloween Moonlight Walk.
