Streets
The City of North Liberty Street and Line Maintenance Department has many varied responsibilities that range from street repair, water and sewer main repair, snow removal, and leaf pickup. The Street Department has four (4) full time employees and one (1) seasonal employee during the summer months.
The Street and Line Maintenance Department’s main responsibility is street maintenance. The City has 71 miles of streets to maintain, however, the mileage grows every year due to the City’s growth.
Street and Line Maintenance Department’s Major Responsibilities
• General street repairs including crack sealing & pot hole patching, and asphalt and concrete replacement.
• Snow removal from the City’s streets.
• Leaf cleanup. Performed twice a year in the fall and spring.
• Clean the streets using the street sweeper.
• Responsible for installation and maintenance of all City street signs.
• Maintain storm water lines including storm water intakes. Also maintain ditches in the right-of-way.
• Repair and maintain waste water mains.
• Repair and maintain water mains.
• Mow the City’s right-of-way.
• Animal control.
• Organize and manage annual Spring Cleanup Day.

Roads embargoed as of May 2011: St. Andrews from S. Jones to Kansas, S. Jones Blvd from St. Andrews to Forevergreen Rd. Vehicles weighing 8 tons or more prohibited. End date contingent on weather.
As of January 2011: The City of North Liberty will no longer respond to wild animal calls on private property (example: raccoon under my residence or on my roof). The owner or lessee of said property will be referred to a private pest control company, (example: Critter Control at 1-800-683-2560). The City of North Liberty will respond if a wild animal is a hazard to the public (example: resident received a bite from a wild animal and needs assistance in capturing for testing.)
