Transit Task Force
The City Council has established a Transit Task
Force to study the feasibility and support for establishing a transit service to
provide public transportation for persons traveling between North Liberty and
the surrounding communities.
Task
Force members include Rose Rennekamp, Ken Fearing, Brian
Willham, Matt Bahl and Dave Franker. The public is encouraged
to attend this meeting and provide input to the Task Force. The Transit Task
Force will be reporting to the City Council in January of 2006 on information
determined from the series of meetings held this year.

RESOLUTION NO. 05-31
RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING A TRANSIT TASK FORCE FOR THE CITY OF NORTH LIBERTY.
WHEREAS, the North Liberty City Council is desirous of establishing a Transit
Task Force to study the feasibility and support for establishing a transit
service to provide public transportation for persons traveling between North
Liberty and the surrounding communities, and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of North Liberty, Iowa, as
follows:
1. A Transit Task Force is hereby established for the City of North Liberty.
2. All meetings of the Transit Task Force will be open to the public, with an
agenda posted at least 24 hours prior to the meeting, and will include
opportunities for public comment.
3. The Transit Task Force will have the authority to conduct surveys of public
opinion that may be appended to City utility bills.
4. The membership of the Transit Task Force will be as follows: two City Council
members, one City staff person, four citizens—including one person 65 years of
age or older, a person who commutes daily to Iowa City or Coralville, a
long-time City resident and a relatively new City resident.
5. Meetings will be held on the third Tuesdays of April, June, August and
October. Other meetings may be held as determined by the Task Force.
6. The Transit Task Force will issue a comprehensive report to the City Council
of its findings at the first City Council meeting in 2006. That report will
include a summary of data on transit funding, costs, ridership, partnerships and
other relevant information and will present options for the City Council's
consideration for possible inclusion in the FY07 City budget.
