Trash and Recycling
These services are contracted to Johnson County Refuse.  For information or if you have questions, please contact City Hall at (319) 626-5700.

Trash & Recycling Pickup Schedule

Wednesdays:  All residents of North Liberty

Trash Stickers
Garbage/trash stickers are required to be attached to the top bag in the can or bags left near the street.  Stickers cost $.95 and may be purchased at City Hall, Fareway, Casey's, Gasby's, and LD Express.  

1 sticker = up to 20-gallon bag or can; up to 40 lbs.  
2 stickers = 21-35-gallon bag or can; No cans over 35 gallons may be picked up
2 stickers = car & light truck tire (call 628-4498 in advance)

Yard waste sticker = $1.00
Appliance sticker = call 330-1726 in advance and ask for Steve
Furniture sticker = call 330-1726 in advance and ask for Steve
Brush and small limbs: 2 bundles picked up free each week.  Must be cut approximately four feet long and tied in bundles weighing 40 lbs or less.  

Recyling Fees:
A monthly recycling fee is billed on your monthly utility bill at $4.05.  This includes weekly recycling and annual cleanup day.  

Recyclable items:

Newspapers, including all supplements
Flattened cardboard and chipboard -- cereal, cracker, tissue boxes, etc.
Glass (brown, clear, & green) food & beverage containers - please rinse & remove lids
Tin & aluminum cans - please rinse. NO cans containing automotive products
Magazines, phonebooks
Mixed paper placed in paper bags (Junk mail, envelopes, egg cartons, paper bags, paper cores, office paper, file folders, paper cards, etc)
Plastic containers labeled numbers 1-7, no plastic bags

NOT recyclable:

Waxed papers or waxed coated cardboard
Disposable diapers, tissues, paper towels
Hard cover books, paperbacks, catalogs
Any paper with food, fertilizer, etc. - must be clean
Windows, light bulbs, mirrors, ceramics, drinking glasses, crystal, etc.
