North Liberty Wastewater Treatment
Plant Expansion 2007-2008
The City of North Liberty has committed to improving wastewater treatment in our
community beyond levels seen in most of the United States. Currently underway,
construction to expand the existing wastewater treatment facility includes
installation of a membrane bioreactor (MBR). MBR plants utilize the most
advanced treatment process on the planet - with fewer than 400 facilities of our
size in operation worldwide as of February 2007. The MBR process results in
treated water that consistently exceeds local and federal purity standards.
Below are construction photos from the plant expansion - in chronological order (beginning April 17, 2007). All photos by Kevin Stensland or Dave Ramsey. Please address questions about our new plant to Wastewater Superintendent Dave Ramsey at (319) 626-5738 or dramsey@ci.north-liberty.ia.us.
