Hometown Rewards

Hometown Rewards

When you save money – everybody wins!  And now there is one more reason to do so – Alliant Energy’s Hometown Rewards program.

In 2010, the City of North Liberty was the first town in Iowa selected to participate in Alliant Energy’s Hometown Rewards program.  The goal of the Hometown Rewards program is to reduce energy usage and improve the environment on a community-wide basis by encouraging residents, government, businesses and industries to develop and implement energy initiatives that save money and promote sustainability.
After months of work, a volunteer Hometown Rewards Committee identified North Liberty’s baseline energy usage and waste generation and came up with energy-efficiency and conservation goals for North Liberty to meet.

North Liberty’s Hometown Rewards priorities include:

  • Reduce electricity usage in existing homes
  • Reduce overall residential energy consumption
  • Reduce water consumption
  • Reduce solid waste generation
  • Increase recycling rate
  • Produce more energy from renewable sources (like geothermal, solar, wind, etc.)
