North Liberty Construction Projects 2011
Highway 965
Phase one of Highway 965 is nearly complete. As of March 2011, the stoplights at Golfview/Fairview are installed. The masts for the signal at Ashley Court has yet to be installed due to soft ground. The date of installation has yet to be determined, but the area must not be wet or soft in order to get a truck in the ditch.
Phase one of the Highway 965 project included realigning Golfview Drive with Fairview Lane, as well as adding a stoplight. The phase will continue by adding a signal at Ashley Court. Working north, intersections will be added at Lions Drive and Hawkeye Drive; please note that signals will not be added to these two intersections.
As of July 2010 the intersection at Cherry Street has an operational stoplight. Syncing the light with the other stoplights on 965 will happen after the other stoplights have been installed. McClure Engineering estimated the cost to add a signal at Cherry, as well as interconnecting it with the light at Penn Street would be $411,587. The city will receive $285,000 from the Reinvestment and Recovery Act. This project was awarded under budget to Advanced Electrical Services, Inc. at $369,450.
Phase two discussions continues in 2011 and construction is slated to begin in 2012.
