On-street parking prohibited 11 a.m. Tuesday to 6 p.m Thursday due to winter storm

With a winter storm expected, North Liberty will prohibit on-street parking beginning Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2019, at 11 a.m. The prohibition is set to expire on Thursday, Jan. 24, 2019, at 6 p.m. The extended prohibition is to allow crews additional time to clear streets following repeated heavy snows.

Parking on streets is not permitted until the snow emergency declaration has been lifted. Forecasts predict heavy winter weather, and crews will be working to clear roads through the snowfall. During the storm, roads may be slick or impassable; drivers are urged to avoid travel if possible.

Hydrant flushing will help get new treatment plant water to customers

The City of North Liberty’s new water treatment plant is online, and the old plant has been decommissioned. Gradually, as customers use water, the water in the system will be replenished from the new plant, and customers should see the improved water.

To speed this along, and help maintain a critical piece of our public safety infrastructure, crews will be flushing hydrants. This can release rust from iron pipes and temporarily discolor the tap water. If this happens, simply let the water run until it clears. If you have questions, you can contact City Hall at (319) 626-5700.
