Training:
- Bomb squad, dive team, canine, and SERT training was attended by members this month (40 hours)
- Two officers attended O/C recertification at ILEA. (16 hours)
- One Officer attended interview and interrogations school in Moline (40 hours)
- Tactical Team Member attended the national conference with the joint team members in Illinois. (16 hours)
Public Relations:
- Officers conducted ALiCE drills at North Bend Elementary with all staff.
- Officers Sammons taught Alice at Geico for their staff members on two separate days.
- Chief, LT, and Investigator attended the Rape Victim Advocacy Program (RVAP) open house at their new location in Iowa City.
- Child Safety Seat inspector conducted 3 checks this month.
- Officers were at the City’s take flight event handing out swag.
- Accepting applications for the Citizen Police Academy that will start in January.
Equipment:
- Replacement and repair quotes were obtained for our air conditioning unit that was struck by lightning. Our insurance deductible was just under the repair costs.
Enforcement:
- Officers worked traffic enforcement projects in the construction zones for roads that were closed and roadways recently open.
- Due to complaints of speeding, officers worked traffic enforcement on new roads that were closed and now open.
Department Admin:
- Jacob Minick resigned from the department.
- We held applicant testing at the Community Center. We received 24 applications and 10 showed up for testing. Three failed either the physical or the written test and 7 will move on to the interview portion next month. The two new hires will be to backfill positions in the department.
- Held our supervisor meeting and invited the City Attorney to join the group. He talked about trends, issues and successful cases he has had with our department and enforcement action.
