Have leaves to the curb by Nov. 30 for the final round of curbside collection

City crews will soon begin the final pass through North Liberty. To ensure collection, residents should have the leaves to the curb by 7 a.m., Monday, Nov. 30, 2020.

Crews will not return to any street once collection there has been completed, including for leaves raked after the area has been collected or for piles crews couldn’t collect due to parked cars.

Final collection will take longer than previous years as we make operational changes to protect the health of our staff and so they are available for priority tasks such as snow removal.

Request a Voucher or Stickers From Our Cleanup Day Alternative

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the City of North Liberty cancelled its annual spring cleanup day, with plans to offer an alternative in the fall. While we won’t be able to host the day as we normally do, we are offering residential refuse customers either a landfill disposal voucher (valued up to $7.50 for the Iowa City Landfill and Recycling Center) or two stickers (valued at $6 for curbside disposal on the customer’s normal collection day).

Selections can be made until Monday, Nov. 23, at 5 p.m.

North Liberty Suspends Certain Temporary Signage Restrictions

The City recognizes that businesses in North Liberty are being severely impacted by the coronavirus and recent order to suspend dine-in services.

Until further notice the City will not enforce certain temporary business sign regulations subject to the following:

  1. The sign is for a business use (restaurant, coffee shop, retail, etc.).
  2. One double-faced temporary sign per business is permitted with a maximum size of 4’x10’. This sign may be freestanding or on the building, but must be located on the property of the business.
  3. The temporary sign is maintained in good working order.
  4. A no cost permit is obtained. Please click the following link to enter the permit information: New Application. The permit type will be “sign” and the project description will be “C19”
  5. The permit is valid for 30 days.

The City anticipates readdressing this issue after the 30 day period and will consider if extending the time period is warranted.
