Stay Cool During Hot Days in North Liberty

Hot, above average, temperatures are expected to return to the area in early August. Make sure you’re staying hydrated, avoid spending extended time in the sun and seek places to cool off, and the City of North Liberty’s Community Center, 520 W. Cherry St., is home to some cool fun.

Library

The library is open Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. In addition to its collection of books for all ages, the library offers a reading room, technology access and programming. Recreation

The Recreation Center is open Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. In addition to various classes and programs, the Recreation Department offers gyms, cardio, weights and other fitness equipment. Indoor and Outdoor Pools

The indoor pool offers lap swimming and various class through much of the day, as well as open swims during regular hours. Check the pool schedule for details. The outdoor pool opens at noon each day for members, with drop-in user access starting at 1 p.m. each day.

Splash Pad

The splash pad at Penn Meadows Park, 355 E Penn St., is open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily until Labor Day. The nearby play area offers shade structures to help beat the heat.
