See Ice Carved into Iconic Animated Characters on Sunday, Jan. 29

Beat the Bitter’s Ice Sculpture Walk returns to Penn Meadows Park (355 E Penn St) on Sunday, Jan. 29. The carvings are just one of the many displays attendees can admire at Fire & Ice presented by GreenState Credit Union from 4 to 8 p.m.

This year, adults and children alike will enjoy ten ice sculptures carved as iconic animated characters from across generations. Designs planned from master carvers Bill Gordish, Ron Dillavou and Rob Storm include:

  • Sonic the Hedgehog
  • Elmo
  • Minion
  • Mickey Mouse
  • SpongeBob SquarePants
  • Chase from Paw Patrol
  • Pikachu
  • Spiderman
  • Mario
  • Snoopy

The sculptures will be illuminated beginning at 5 p.m. While the sculptures will remain in the park until they melt, the carvings will only be backlit during the Fire & Ice event. Visitors are invited to watch the carvers in action between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Jan. 29 prior to the evening event.

Additional Fire & Ice programming includes fire performances, ice skating, horse-drawn carriage rides, games, giveaways and a firework finale. All programming is free.
