55+ Connections: Week of 6/5/23

55+ Connections Lunch 

Friday, June 9 

11:30 AM 

North Liberty Rec Center – Classrooms 3 & 4 

Pizza Ranch will be catering this week, which usually means we’ll get some of their delicious fried chicken (but all meals are subject to change)! We will also have the Visiting Nurse Association present to do free blood pressure checks. After lunch we’ll have Angie McConville and Kelly Schneider talk to us about transportation in North Liberty and Johnson County. Registration for lunch just $5 and is required for all who attend. Participants must register before noon on Thursday, June 8th. Call the Rec Center to register (319)626-5716 or go online to your RecDesk Account and register yourself. 

Ranshaw House Concert Series 

Fridays in June and July 

6 PM – 8 PM 

Ranshaw House Lawn, 515 Community Dr. North Liberty 

All through June and July the City of North Liberty will be hosting free live performances from local musicians all from the Ranshaw House front porch! Connect with neighbors, bring a picnic, BYOB, and enjoy the fun summer evening atmosphere! See the full line up of performers here!  

Friday, June 9th performer: Awful Purdies  

Folk-Americana collective of five multi-instrumental women, powered by seamless harmonies, banjo, accordion, cello, guitar, mandolin, and bass. The sound is an earnest nod to traditional American music, folk, old country, bluegrass, honky tonk, and soul. 

Junior Optimists International (JOI) Bake Sale 

Friday, June 9 – Saturday, June 10 

10 AM – 4 PM both days 

North Liberty Library – Magazine Lounge 

Come to the library to get some wonderful treats and support the Junior Optimists! There is a suggested donation of $5 per plate and proceeds benefit future JOI projects for the community.  

If you or someone you know would like to donate baked goods for the sale, they can be dropped off at the library Wednesday, June 7th – Friday, June 9th. Please make sure to include a list of all ingredients (i.e. nuts, chocolate,  eggs, peanut butter, etc.). 

Friends of the Library Book Sale 

Thursday, June 8 – Saturday, June 10 

North Liberty Library – Meeting Rooms 

The FRIENDS of the library annual book sale is back this year, shop the sale Thursday, June 8 through Saturday, June 10 during normal library hours in the library. Cost will be $20/bag (as many as you can fit in the provided bag) or free will donation for small purchases. 

City Wide Garage Sale 

Thursday, June 8 – Saturday, June 10 

North Liberty 

Thursday through Saturday, there will be second hand bargains to be had in North Liberty! So far there are over 130 sellers signed up for the sale, with the possibility of more to come! Want to find out more about where these sales will be? Check out the website here!
