Board games this week! We’ll have dominos, cards, and other board games available, but you are welcome to bring your own games as well. 

Join us each week for a social gathering full of activities and friendly conversation – board games, puzzles, art, book discussions, and more! No registration required.

North Liberty Rec Center – Classrooms 3 & 4 

We’re back to the first week of the of the month, which means Hy-Vee is catering. They are expected to bring beef and noodles, mashed potatoes, and garden salad. After lunch we’ll play a few rounds of BINGO! Registration for lunch is $5 and required for all who attend. Participants must register before noon on Thursday, September 5th. Call the Rec Center to register (319)626-5716 or go online to your RecDesk Account and register yourself. 

Iowa City Public Library Arts and Crafts Bazaar Donations Accepted 

September 3 – December 6 (Bazaar happening December 7) 

During regular library hours 

Do you enjoy creating things? Would you like to donate your handmade items to support the Iowa City Public Library during their Arts & Crafts Bazaar on December 7, 2024? If so, they would gladly accept your items through December 6th. Simply fill out this form. The form will send you an email copy. Please print out that email and attach it to your item(s). Then, drop off your item(s) at the Library Help Desk on the first floor any time they are open through Friday, December 6, 2024. If you are unable to print this form, please plan to fill out a paper form when you arrive at the Library Help Desk. 

Please note that donated items will not be returned. Items not sold at the sale will be made available to ICPL staff for purchase, and/or will be placed for sale in The Book End bookstore on the 2nd floor of the ICPL.

Forever Green Garden Center’s Monarch Tagging 

Sunday, September 8 

12:30 – 2 PM 

Forever Green Garden Center – 125 W Forevergreen Rd, Coralville 

Tag and release a monarch butterfly! Learn about Monarchs, their lives, and amazing migration. Experience tagging a butterfly, get a certificate with information on Monarch Watch.  

The presentation is FREE, but there is a $8 fee for tagging and releasing a butterfly. To register to tag a butterfly, call 319-626-6770.  

Tagging will begin at 12:30 and the presentation will start at 1 PM. This is an outdoor event with limited seating. Bring a chair to assure seating. In the event of rain, event will move into the greenhouse. 

Good Neighbor Book Club

Join your neighbors, North Liberty Ambassadors and city staff each Thursday, September 19th through October 24th for a community discussion of The Righteous Mind by Jonathan Haidt. Discussions take place Thursday, September 19 & 26th, October 3, 10, 17, and 24th from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Ranshaw House with book distribution September 19th. Register here.
