Minutes from North Liberty Tree and Storm Water Advisory Board Meeting

January 20, 2021 7:00PM

Call to order by Abdouramane Bila (President)

Present: Michael Burril (Vice President), Kevin McGrane (Secretary), Mike Wolfe (Stormwater Coordinator), Guy Goldsmith (Parks Director)

Motion to approve minutes from October 14, 2020 by Michael Burril, second by Kevin McGrane.

Abdouramane Bila opened the floor for public comment with no public comments to address.

Guy Goldsmith provided an update that a $1,000 MidAmerican Trees Please Grant 2021 was received for tree planting at Red Fern Dog Park to be done this spring.

Guy Goldsmith provided an update that the Tree City USA recertification application was submitted and approved by the Iowa DNR, awaiting final approval from the Arbor Day Foundation.

Guy Goldsmith provided an update that 12,000 cubic yards of material from the derecho was reduced by about half by mulching. There will be continued discussion as to how to best utilize the mulch.

Discussion about Muddy Creek Clean-Up Day (April 10, 2021). Pending Covid concerns at that time, we will plan to have a clean up day this year. We were unable to have the clean up day last year, so it will be needed even more this year. Hoping for community involvement with social distancing in place.

North Liberty Arbor Day (Friday, April 30, 2021) a yearly proclamation by the Mayor to celebrate Arbor Day which is a requirement for Tree City USA.

Mike Wolfe provided an update about GIS progress. A 3rd party has been mapping sanitary sewer and water infrastructure with plans for stormwater system mapping in the future pending funding,
