Golden Turkey Hunt Clue for Nov. 29

The prize has been claimed, but the spot is marked if you’d like to continue your hunt for it.


Each Tuesday in November, we’ll release on this website a clue to find a hidden medallion located somewhere on public property in North Liberty. The first person to find the medallion and return it to the Recreation Department’s front desk will win the week’s prize. If the prize isn’t claimed by noon on Friday, we’ll release a second clue. Get the full details.

This week’s prize is a Holiday Meals package:

  • A holiday family meal for six people from Z’s Catering
  • A second holiday family meal pack to give to a family of your choice
  • $100 gift cards for North Liberty Recreation Department programming

North Liberty’s City Slate is a collection of our largest special events planned by city staff. Every event on the slate is free to attend, and our team has over 40 events in store for you in 2022. Upcoming events will be announced in waves throughout the year. Full details for each event will be linked below in the weeks leading up to each program.

Dec. 3: Breakfast with Santa
Join Santa for breakfast, photos and fun. Registration, required, remaining spaces opens Monday, Nov. 28, 2022, at 6 a.m.

Dec. 3: Holiday Vendor Fair
Get a jump on your holiday shopping by visiting local vendors.

Dec. 28: Noon Year’s Eve
A New Year’s celebration for the whole family with a craft, snack, dancing and midday balloon drop.

More in store for 2023!

We’re putting the finishing touches on the City Slate schedule for 2023, which will again offer some 40 free events throughout the year for all sorts of folks.

Jan. 29: Fire & Ice and Fireworks
Enjoy fire performances, ice sculptures, carriage rides, fireworks and more during Beat the Bitter’s free evening at Penn Meadows Park.

Feb. 3: Youth Night at Scheels Ice Rink
A special night of skating for junior high and high school students at Scheels Ice Rink with skates, music and snacks provided.

Feb. 4: Ice Fishing with TAKO
Try your luck catching some pan fish at Liberty Centre Pond with with Take A Kid Outdoors.

Feb. 18: Ride Around the Lights
Free pedicab rides around North Liberty Lights.

Feb. 23: Sip & Stroll
Samples of wine and beer from local restaurants as you stroll for North Liberty Lights. Non-alcoholic options also available.

April 1: Bunny Clue Trail
Follow the bunny clue trail around to earn treasure at this spring-themed program packed with a scavenger hunt, photo opportunities and craft activities.

April 22: Kites for Kids Festival
Come play at this family-friendly kite festival raising awareness of National Child Abuse Prevention Month.

Nov. 12: Embody | Embrace: Tell Your Story
A celebration of stories and storytelling at the library with guest speakers and storytellers.

Oct 27 & 28: Haunted Happenings
Trick or treat outside along the North Liberty Recreation Trail and then enter the lower level of the Community Center for a spooky maze.  Costumes encouraged.

Oct. 30 & 31: Community Pumpkin Display
Ghoulish — and goofy — faces will soon be flickering around the Ranshaw House, and we’re providing pumpkins.

Oct 21: Halloween Moonlight Walk
The trail around Liberty Centre Pond will be lit by friendly ghosts and Halloween decorations, with a scavenger hunt for a chance to win prizes.

Oct 23: Floating Pumpkin Patch
Jump into the indoor pool and swim to your favorite pumpkin. Enjoy raffles, a pumpkin decorating station and goody bags. Registration is required and opens on Oct 16.

Oct. 1: Star Party
Join Take A Kid Outdoors for a night of stars viewing, night raptors and s’mores.

Sept 24: Bethany C. Morrow Author Visit
The author of Mem, So Many Beginnings: A Little Women Remix and A Chorus Rises talks about her work and answers audience questions.

May through July: Fairy Trail
Visit the doors of the fairies and trolls who have made trees along our recreation trail their home.

Aug. 20: Summer Send-Off
Send summer off with a bang! Join us in Penn Meadows Park for free fun and a fireworks finale.

Aug. 12: Swimming Storytime
Come and go as you please during a fun summer outdoor pool storytime during a free two-hour swim.

July 29: Swimming Storytime
Come and go as you please during a fun summer outdoor pool storytime during a free two-hour swim.

Fridays in June and July: Ranshaw House Concert Series
Bring a picnic, catch up with friends and socialize as a community with live performances from local musicians on the historic house’s front porch.

June and July: Summer Reading Program
Read Beyond the Beaten Path this summer with your community and the library!

July 23: Tween Night at the Pool
A private event for rising 8th and 9th graders at the outdoor pool, complete with free pizza, games and a selfie station.

July 17: Swimming with Princesses
A magical experience with your favorite island and sea princesses at the outdoor pool. Registration is free, but registration is required. Registration opens June 17.

July 9: North Liberty Blues & BBQ
North Liberty’s summer tradition is back! Live music, craft beer, barbecue and kids fun in Centennial Park.

June 25: Great American Campout
A communitywide backyard campout to raise money for our local schools.

June 24: Freedom Roll
Bring your bikes, blades, wagons, wheelbarrows, wheelchairs and whatever else rolls for a reverse parade.

June 24: Children’s Concert
An outdoor children’s concert with Little Miss Ann.

June 17: Swimming Storytime
Come and go as you please during a fun summer outdoor pool storytime during free swimming.

June 9: Free Swimming Lesson
Get a jumpstart on a fun and safe summer with a free swim lesson from our lifeguards.

June 4: Let Love Fly
Mega kites soar above Centennial Park for a community celebration of love.

June 4: Free Fishing Weekend
A morning of free fishing and prizes with with Take A Kid Outdoors.

May 21: Playground Crawl
Spend the afternoon with your household exploring the city’s playgrounds with treats and activities at each stop.

May 14: Remarkable Rigs
Meet the trucks and drivers that keep the city going at this showcase of public works vehicles.

May 7: Free Comic Book Day
Celebrate the art, artists and stories of comic books on National Comic Book Day.

April 9: Shed Hunt
Explore nature as you search for antlers with Take A Kid Outdoors.
