Upcoming road and trail detours

July 13, 2011 — Starting tomorrow, July 14, the bike trail from Forevergreen Road to Zeller Street will be closed and detour along Front Street. This closure is estimated to last two weeks, depending on weather. This will allow for construction of the Golfview Drive extension.
Also, on Saturday, July 16, eastbound traffic on Penn Street will be detoured through Community Drive to Highway 965. This redirection is slated to last from approximately 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. This detour will allow adequate space to pour concrete up to the southwest corner of the construction area.
Street Superintendent Don Colony notes, “If weather cooperates, the widening part should be done by the beginning of next week.  That will be followed by temporary painting, back filling of dirt and installation of storm sewer boxes.” Colony also says, “This project is going well so far. Because we’ve had several dry days, we have been able to keep on schedule. When the project is complete, travel will be easier for everyone.”
