North Liberty replacing water meters
July 19, 2011 — The North Liberty water department is replacing in-home meters throughout town. Water department staff, recognizable by their city vehicles, T-shirts and identification, must enter homes in order to change meters between 7:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Though not all city meters will be changed, this is an on-going project. Of the 6,000 water meters in the area, only 200 are being changed this year. Water Superintendent Greg Metternich says, “The actual installation and reading should take approximately an hour. Keeping water meters up to date helps ensure accurate readings. We thank everyone for their patience as we enter their homes and businesses.”
If no one is home, a tag will be left on the door in order to schedule a time for the meter installation. Only after the door tag has been left will the water department schedule a time to visit a specific address.
