Training- NLPD hosted a two day rapid response training event at a local elementary school for our agency and other local law enforcement agencies. Officers attended a two day Street Survival seminar and Deputy Eric Stein Shooting Debriefing. Officers that were currently not certified as vehicle inspectors attend an 8 hour certification course. These inspections are performed on salvaged vehicle titles. An inspector checks to make sure no stolen parts were used when the vehicle was repaired.
Two North Liberty Officers helped with the fun run on March 23rd for We Run and the First United Methodist Church Youth Group.
Sue Brenneman from the North Liberty Living Center donated fleece blankets and coloring books for the patrol cars.
As part of our community service, we preform car unlocks. A mother was thrilled that we were able to help out her daughter and sent in a donation to the department. This is a free service that we provide but she wanted to show her appreciation and thank the department.
Three officers were involved in a shooting on March 10th. These officers are still recovering and currently on administrative leave. Community members and area business have shown support for what police officers face on a daily basis and donated cookies, pizza, sandwiches and other treats to the department. We appreciated the cards and support that has been provided.
