The North Liberty Community Library, 520 W Cherry St., will celebrate its recent $3.4 million expansion — nearly tripling the library’s size — with a grand opening on Sunday, Sept. 8, from 1 to 5 p.m.
The free public event will offer refreshments, tours of the new space, local celebrity readers, face painting, a scavenger hunt and giveaways. A ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. The expansion adds a teen lounge, a dedicated children’s story time space, meeting rooms, more technology, and comfortable seating throughout the facility.
The North Liberty Community Library is in its 26th year of serving the North Liberty area. Before it moved to the North Liberty Community Center, the library was housed in just 1,400 square feet adjacent to the fire station. This expansion has been in the works for five years, and increases the ability of the library to serve the growing community.
