Update: Meet North Liberty’s police chief finalists
The public is invited to meet the four finalists for the City of North Liberty’s police chief opening in an informal reception from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 11, at the North Liberty Community Library, 520 W. Cherry St. This reception was moved from the City Council Chambers due to a scheduling conflict.
The four finalists are Michael Brotherton of Iowa City, Iowa; Jason Doll of Carlisle, Iowa; Brad Nelson of Columbia, Mo.; and Diane Venenga, of North Liberty, Iowa. Venenga is currently serving as the North Liberty Police Department’s interim police chief. Cliff Sessoms of Marion, Ind., withdrew his name from consideration earlier this week.
The reception is a chance for residents to meet the candidates and offer their input in the final selection. Candidates will also meet with the mayor and city councilors, city staff, and members of local law enforcement as part of the selection process.
The search to permanently fill the police chief opening began in June with the help of Moulder and Associates, a firm headed by former Des Moines police chief William Moulder, a consulting firm specializing in law enforcement. The city plans to name a permanent police chief this fall.
