Johnson County Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan is available for review and approval

A draft of a hazard mitigation plan covering North Liberty, neighboring cities, school districts and other jurisdictions in Johnson County is available for review and formal adoption. The public can access the plan draft through the Johnson County Emergency Management’s web page.
The primary purpose of hazard mitigation planning is to identify how a community can minimize the negative impacts of natural, human caused, and combination hazards. This type of planning attempts to minimize death, injury, property damage, and community disruption. For Iowa and Johnson County, recurring natural disasters such as windstorms, flooding, and ice storms have made local hazard mitigation planning an essential activity.
