Notice of proposed NPDES permit

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources is proposing to issue a NPDES (National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System) permit for the discharge described below:

LOCATION: Johnson County
RECEIVING WATERBODIES: The Iowa River and other, unclassified streams
The Iowa River at the points of discharge is a class A1, B(W W-1) and HH stream. Class A 1 streams are waters in which recreational or other uses result in prolonged and direct contact with the water. Class B(W W-1) streams are waters in which temperature, flow and other habitat characteristics are suitable to maintain warm water game fish populations. Class HH streams are waters in which fish are routinely harvested for human consumption.
DESCRIPTION OF PROPOSED DISCHARGES:
The permit will authorize the discharge of storm water from the municipal storm sewer system.
Anyone wishing to comment or object to the proposed permit must do so in writing within 45 days of the date shown on the top of this notice. All comments received will be considered in the final decision to issue or deny the permit. If no objections are received within 45 days, the Department will issue a final permit. You may request that the Department hold a public hearing by submitting a written request citing specific reasons and a proposed list of topics to cover.
