Moxie Solar awarded small business loan

The North Liberty City Council has approved a loan to Moxie Solar, a growing solar technology company based in North Liberty.
“We want to support the businesses that call North Liberty home,” said Mayor Amy Nielsen, “and Moxie Solar is a great example of the growing, innovative, homegrown businesses that are so important to our community.”
The loan is part of the city’s Small Business Development Program. The program, started in 2012 in collaboration with the University of Iowa’s John Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Center, seeks to increase the diversity and size of the business community as well as stimulate additional permanent jobs in North Liberty. The program offers qualified businesses loans of up to $25,000 for up to five years.
“As a developing small business, accessing capital is one of our biggest challenges, and the time lost to raise funding is often more valuable than the funds themselves. We’re thrilled the City of North Liberty was diligent, proactive and decisive,” said Moxie Solar CEO Jason Hall. “Moxie Solar will benefit by using the funds to accelerate growth and create local jobs while being able to remain focused on at what we do best: providing innovative renewable energy.”
Moxie Solar is the second company to receive a loan the City of North Liberty’s Small Business Development Program. Blend Card, an innovative loyalty card program, received a $25,000 loan in August. Details of the program are available at northlibertyiowa.org/business.
