Public Relations
- Chief Venenga presented information about the NLPD for the North Liberty Optimist Club.
- The Department competed with other city departments for the Severson Challenge. Food and personal items were collected for the NL Food Pantry. The officers evicted me from my office and created a can structure desk in the hallway. We had great overall participation from the police department.
- The Citizen Police Academy started and 10 of the applicants are North Liberty Residents. The academy will run for 11 weeks and I am excited about the level of commitment from the North Liberty Community. Officer Santiago sponsored one student to attend the academy and the department also sponsored another high school student.
- An officer attended the grand opening for Walgreens.
- The chief attended the ICCSD Core management team meeting with discussions about the youth diversion program and disproportionate contact with minorities. Also a discussion was held about needs and resources available in our area.
Equipment:
- Repair was needed on an older in car Digital Video Recording (DVR) device. This was sent back to the company.
- Defibrillators were checked and updated under the maintenance contract. We currently have five defibs.

- After the first heavy snow, 69 snow emergency tickets were issued city wide. The officers and records staff received multiple inquiries about the ordinance and educated on the 2 inches or more of snow as well.
- Multiple officers spent time following up on two runaways this month.
- The department received multiple calls, complaints, concerns, and available resources for animal care in North Liberty and available resources in Johnson County.
