Equipment damage slows leaf collection
Posted on: November 2, 2015
Leaf collection in North Liberty will be slowed due to the destruction of one of the city’s vacuum trucks. The damage was caused when a piece of concrete, obscured by leaves at the curb for collection, was sucked into the truck’s impeller. No injuries were reported during the incident.
Repair will require the truck to be out of service through the end of leaf collection, limiting collection to a single crew working with older, less efficient equipment.
Residents are reminded to rake leaves to the curb Monday for collection during the week. Please keep leaf piles free of sticks, branches, rocks, concrete and other non-leafy items. Residents can help speed collection by avoiding parking in front of leaf piles.
