Comments sought on updated Parks Comprehensive Plan

2015E Draft Park Plan cover
Along with North Liberty’s rapid growth come questions  about providing public facilities and quality-of-life features to adequately serve long-time and new residents, including parks and open spaces. To that end, the city has had a comprehensive plan for its parks and, in 2015, city staff, members of the Parks and Recreation Commission and the North Liberty City Council undertook a revision of the plan; a draft is available here. the adopted plan is available here.
Public input has been gathered by taking comment during public meetings. Before the plan goes to the Parks and Recreation Commission for possible recommendation to the City Council for adoption, the public is once again asked for comment. Comments can be e-mailed to Parks Superintendent Guy Goldsmith at [email protected]. Comments should be submitted by 5 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 21, 2015.
Our community strives to provide a wide variety of recreational, some targeting specific populations and some not. This plan is intended to document a realistic analysis of existing parks, undeveloped areas planned for park development, the need for additional space, and potential means of acquisition and development. Its intended use is to guide continuing park development in the city, and it is assumed that it may need to be updated on relatively short time frames if the pace of development continues.
