Community Day coming to Farmer’s Market, Penn Landing

For the first time since the reopening of Highway 965, the North Liberty Farmer’s Market and local businesses are coming together to celebrate summer with a Community Day. On July 30th, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., catch live music, local food and crafts, family fun, a cornhole tournament, and bounce houses at the market’s location on Pacha Parkway. With no tickets needed or any cost for entry, this event promises to be easy summer fun for any family, and is open to the public.

The Community Day event is a collaboration between Penn Landing businesses and the North Liberty Farmer’s Market to help the North Liberty community celebrate summer. In addition to live music sponsored by University of Iowa Community Credit Union and MidWestOne Bank, folks can enjoy face-painting and bounce houses–sponsored by O’Brien Family McDonalds– and deals from the surrounding businesses in Pacha Parkway. Along with a Cornhole Tournament–$15/team, with prizes for the top two teams–there promises to be something for everyone at the event.

“We are excited to hold this event in Penn Landing–with the help of some great sponsors–for the community to enjoy,” said North Liberty Farmer’s Market co-owner, Emily Roberts. “With fun for any family, great food, and the local band Vandello providing music all day, we’re ready for a good time.”

The North Liberty Farmer’s Market has been bringing fresh produce, local crafts, and handmade goods to the residents of North Liberty since 2014. Open the first Sunday of May and running through the end of October–with some adjustments for weather–the market is held every Sunday in Penn Landing from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. In addition to ample produce and handcrafts, the market has featured local musicians and a variety of hot food options to make for a lunchtime destination each Sunday.

“We have been proud of the growth we have seen at the market, and the response we have seen from the community,” said market co-owner, Nolan Petersen. “We’re excited to let people know who we are as a market and to welcome the community to check out our market and the businesses in Penn Landing.”
