New clinic for middle schoolers interested in competitive swimming starts in February
Sixth, seventh and eighth graders interested in joining a competitive swim club or their junior high or high school team, are invited to a new clinic. The clinic, which begins Feb. 5, 2018, will be led by USA Swimming-certified coach and official Mike Brotherton, a retired Iowa City police officer who is on the coaching staff of the University of Iowa Recreation Services program Iowa Flyers Swim Club.
The clinic, held in North Liberty, will work on all four competitive strokes, each broken down with drills and skills to increase attendees’ technique, empowering them to swim faster and enjoy the thrills of competitive swimming. Training fins are required. Question about the course can be directed to Mike Brotherton at [email protected] or (319) 331-3056.
The clinic is scheduled for 7 to 8 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays from Feb. 5 to March 7, 2018. Registration is $48 for residents and $53 for non-residents. Open registration, available online or in person, begins today.
