Current Openings on Volunteer Board Vacancies

Two boards, which serve as advisory boards to the City Council, have openings and are seeking volunteers.

Cemetery Board

This is a six-member board (three from North Liberty and three from Penn Township) charged with overseeing Ridgewood Cemetery on Scales Bend Road. The board typically meets three times per year. Appointments are to complete one unexpired term ending June 30, 2020. Full appointments are for a three-year term.

Park & Recreation Commission

The Park and Recreation Commission plans for the continuing development of parks and recreation facilities in North Liberty. They also set policies for operation of those facilities. This commission meets monthly on the first Thursday of each month. Appointment is to complete a term ending June 30, 2020. Full appointments are for a three-year term.

Iowa State Code requires that cities have gender balance on all boards and commissions. With appointments and reappointments, gender balance will be considered. Applicants must be 18 years old and a legal resident of the city. Appointments are expected to be made at the March 15, 2019, City Council meeting.
