Change Your Clock, Change Your Batteries on March 13
Posted on: March 11, 2022
This weekend, we’ll turn our clocks ahead an hour (that makes it spring, right?!). North Liberty firefighters and fire-prevention folks remind you that this is a good opportunity to also replace the batteries in your smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors.
The National Fire Protection Association reports that 71 percent of smoke alarms that fail to operate had missing, disconnected or dead batteries, reinforcing the importance of taking the time each year to check smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.
While homes have a decreasing number of clocks that require a manual time adjustment, your smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors still require some TLC.
