Fire Department Responds to Kitchen Fire on Penn Oaks Drive

At approximately 10:13 a.m. on Tuesday, July 5, 2022, the North Liberty Fire Department was dispatched to 60 Penn Oaks Drive for a building fire alarm. North Liberty police units were the first to arrive and reported smoke in the building and started evacuating occupants.
On arrival, North Liberty Fire Department units found a fire in the kitchen in one of the apartments that was extinguished by the building’s automatic fire sprinkler system. All fire damage was contained to that unit.
There were no civilian, law enforcement or firefighter injuries reported. The cause is under investigation and a loss estimate of the fire is currently unavailable.
