Fire Department Responds to Structure Fire at 555 Country Lane
The North Liberty Fire Department was dispatched at 3:42 p.m. on Sunday, Sept 25, 2022, for a report of a building fire at 555 Country Lane. A North Liberty police officer was first to arrive and confirmed a flames on the back side of Country View Senior Rest Home. On NLPD’s arrival, staff and police officers evacuated all seven residents from the building.
As North Liberty fire units arrived, firefighters found the rear of the building on fire with extension into the attic. A second alarm was struck for additional fire units. The exterior fire was quickly extinguished as crews then moved inside the building to extinguish the attic fire. As the fire was knocked down, multiple crews were used to extinguish hot spots. The fire was confined to the attic space.
Firefighters from Solon, Coralville, Iowa City, Tiffin, and Swisher assisted in the effort, as did the North Liberty Police Department, North Liberty Public Works, Johnson County Sheriff’s Department, Johnson County Ambulance Service, Red Cross, and the Johnson County Emergency Communications Center. Crews were on the scene for just under six hours. The cause of the fire is under investigation, a loss estimate is currently unavailable.
