55+ Lunch Dessert:

Every week we have two dessert spots available for lunch. If you sign up to bring dessert, then you eat lunch free! It does not have to be homemade, it can be storebought.

A couple of weeks ago we had two delicious desserts and one of the dessert providers shared her Banana Oatmeal Cookie recipe with us:

Banana Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies

½ cup banana (2 bananas)

1 egg

2 cups oatmeal

1 ½ cups flour

1 tsp baking soda

½ cup brown sugar

½ cup chocolate chips

¼ cup white sugar

1 tsp vanilla

¼ cup margarin or butter

Preheat oven to 350° F

Use a mixer to mix bananas, egg, sugars, butter, and vanilla until well combined.

Add oatmeal, flour, and baking soda until just combined.

Mix in chocolate chips.

Scoop dough onto cookie sheet, cover with plastic wrap, and chill. Once chilled, bake at 350°F for about 12 minutes. Let cool and enjoy!

Volunteering at the North Liberty Community Pantry

At the North Liberty Community Pantry, we are driven by the simple idea that neighbors should help neighbors. With around 100 weekly volunteer slots to fill and over 1,000 families served each month, NLCP is an amazing opportunity to make a real and direct difference through feeding and clothing our community. To get started, you can attend an Open Volunteer Time, which is held every 2nd and 4th Monday of each month from 3:30pm-6pm. This is a great time to visit the pantry, get familiar with the space, and help out with various tasks that need to be completed. If you would like to volunteer more regularly, we ask that anyone interested attend a Volunteer Orientation, which we hold at the pantry every 3rd Monday of each month at 6pm. After you attend, you’ll be free to sign up for various volunteer shifts throughout the week! Thank you for considering helping your neighbors through NLCP.

Covid-19 Vaccines

The updated 2023-2024 COVID-19 vaccines are now available to better protect you against the most common variants of the virus circulating now. Medicare covers the COVID-19 vaccine at no cost to you.

The CDC recommends that everyone ages 6 months and older get the updated 2023-2024 COVID-19 vaccine to protect against serious illness. Protection from previous vaccination or infection weakens over time, so it’s important to get the updated COVID-19 vaccine now to stay protected.
