Call the Rec Center to register (319)626-5716 or go online to your RecDesk Account and register yourself.
You can get your lunch for free by bringing a dessert to share!
Bring enough dessert for 15 or more people and the $5 fee will be waived (if you plan to bring dessert, call the Rec Center to register and let us know over the phone). It can be store bought or homemade. If you need an idea for a homemade recipe, try this one, which was brought in by an attendee a few weeks ago:
Cherry Pecan Dessert
2 cans cherry pie filling
1 stick butter, melted
Approx. 2 cups chopped pecans
2 boxes pecan cake mix
Put the cherry pie filling in the bottom of a 9 x 13 pan. Spread the cake mix on top evenly. Drizzle the butter over the dry mix. Spread chopped pecans on top.
Bake at 350° F for 50 – 60 minutes. If the top isn’t nice and brown turn oven to 375° F for another 10 minutes.

Flight Around the World to End Polio
Thursday, February 22
1 – 2 PM
Iowa City Senior Center – Room 302 (or Zoom)
Our presenters, local pilots John Ockenfels and Peter Teahan, left Cedar Rapids in May to fly around the world in a private plane. The purpose of this flight was to raise awareness of polio as a world health problem and to raise money for the eradication of the deadly disease. The pilots made over 30 stops around the world where locals hosted receptions and fundraisers, resulting in over $1.5 million in donations. Learn how two ordinary men with an extraordinary vision made an incredible impact in eradicating polio around the world. Co-sponsored by the Iowa City Senior Center and TRAIL of Johnson County. Register for this free presentation here or call the Senior Center at 319-356-5220.
