Groundbreaking Celebration Planned for Centennial Center and Centennial Park

After more than a decade of planning, the City of North Liberty is breaking ground to transform Centennial Park into a magnetic gathering place residents will cherish as a quality-of-life amenity, businesses will boast about when recruiting employees, and visitors will rave about when they talk about Iowa.

The groundbreaking celebration will be held at Centennial Park, 1565 St Andrews Drive, at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 9, 2024. Remarks will begin at 10 a.m. Parking is available in any of the park’s lots.

Celebrating the first of four phases, the event will include remarks from City of North Liberty staff, partner organizations and project leaders. The four planned phases are:

  • Phase 1: The event center and amphitheatre, exterior restrooms, expanded plaza space and necessary utilities to support all phases.
  • Phase 2: A splash pad and expanded playground with wheelchair-accessible playground units, plus a picnic shelter with additional restrooms, shade structures and expanded parking.
  • Phase 3: A year-round pavilion and an expansive plaza space.
  • Phase 4: An honor garden and additional parking.
