Voter Information for Nov. 5, 2024, General Election
A general election will be held on Nov. 5, 2024, which will elect candidates for federal, state and county offices and seek approval for ballot measures. Questions about voting are best addressed to the Johnson County Auditor’s Office via email at [email protected] or by phone at (319) 356-6004.
Local, state and federal elections throughout Johnson County, including North Liberty, are the responsibility of the Johnson County Auditor’s Office. North Liberty encourages residents to register and vote as a way to participate in their government. The county auditor has detailed information about this election online, including candidates, registering, early voting and polling places.
Voting Early & by Mail
Early voting is available. Ballot requests must be received by the auditor’s office by 5 p.m. on Oct. 21.
In-person absentee voting will be available beginning Oct. 16 at County Auditor’s office, in the Johnson County Administration Building, 913 S. Dubuque St. or at the Health & Human Services Building Parking Ramp (drive-thru voting), 855 S. Dubuque St., in Iowa City on weekdays from Wednesday, Oct. 16 through Monday, Nov. 4, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Extended hours are available Monday, Oct. 28 through Wednesday, Oct. 30, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Weekend Hours, both office and ramp, will be held Saturday, Oct. 26, and Sunday, Oct. 27, from 12 to 5 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 2, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 3, 12 to 5 p.m.
Several satellite locations will also be hosted and the following sites are scheduled. A Johnson County voter can vote at any satellite site.
- Oct. 19, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Oct. 20, 12 to 4 p.m. at Coralville Public Library, 1401 5th St., Coralville
- Oct. 21 through Oct. 23, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Iowa Memorial Union, 125 N. Madison St., Iowa City in Hubbard Commons
- Oct. 21 through Oct. 23, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, 200 Hawkins Drive, Iowa City – Fountain Lobby
- Oct. 24 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Iowa Health Care – Iowa River Landing Clinic, 920 E 2nd Ave, Coralville
- Oct. 25, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Iowa Health Care – Health Care Support Services Building, 3281 Ridgeway Drive, Coralville
- Oct. 26, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Oct. 27, 12 to 5 p.m., and Oct. 28 through Oct. 30, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Iowa City Public Library, 123 S. Linn St., Iowa City
- Nov. 1, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Nov. 2, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at North Liberty Library, 520 W. Cherry St., North Liberty
Voting on Election Day
Polls will be open 7 a.m. through 8 p.m. On election day, voters will vote at their polling place. To vote on election day, voters must provide ID.
Registering to Vote
A voter will need to register whenever they move, change their name or change their political affiliation. Voters can register to vote as soon as they receive mail at their home, as long as they’re a US Citizen, an Iowa resident and at least 17 ½ years old (they must be 18 on election day to cast a ballot). Registration is available online, by mail or in person; learn the requirements and download forms on the Johnson County Auditor’s website. Registration is available in person on election day at your regular polling place.
