Youth Council Offers STEM Engagement for Students

North Liberty Youth Council members are hosting seminars on topics related to science, technology, engineering and mathematics through their STEMpact initiative. STEMpact is intended to introduce upper-elementary and middle school students to various areas of STEM by leading students through lectures and activities on topics such as computer science, biology, physics and more. The initiative offers a series of five seminars taking place once a month at the North Liberty Library from January through May 2025. Each seminar is instructed and led by one of the Youth Council members. Details on each seminar can be found below.

NLYC, established in 2022, is made up of nine students from area high schools, including Liberty, CCA, and Regina. NLYC members work to advocate for other young people in the community by engaging in service projects and hosting events.
